Stig came into our loves looking like a 82 year old man…the ‘Benjamin Button’ of dogs…so much skin to grow into! As a puppy he loved his food, he used to have rice pudding warmed in the microwave (breeders advice) so knew when he heard the microwave ‘ping’ it meant ‘food’ and he would steam in. As an adult and still food orientated, he was too intelligent for his own good. We had padlocks on cupboard’s and bins after finding multi packs of crisps on the floor, bins pulled out all over the floor- including fire ash everywhere! This boy was ‘obsessed’ with his ball and would run for hours up and down hills- he became a mass of muscle and clearly very handsome. This mass of muscular muscle- poorly trained on the lead he was clearly perfect for testing our ‘Droollery’ range. Stig would get in touch with his ‘feminine side’ for the photos- but when he was outside on his lead with his focus ‘we are going to the field we are gonna play ball’ he pulled like a train!...’Stig test’ passed. Stage 2 the ‘Holmes boys’ 18 & 20 years at the time playing tug of war to prove their mum wrong….yes between my 3 boys there were adjustment, but 3 years on we have ‘strength and beauty’.
Stig passed away in 2019 while doing what he loved best ‘running for the ball!’ he did not suffer , I miss my boy, the fondest memory I have of him was being snowed in when he was a puppy I was in my furry pyjamas in front of the fire doing phone call triage to patients remotely from home with Stig laid on my legs asleep. RIP big boy... greatly missed … but warmer now you’re not there to hog the fire!
