Stig came into our loves looking like a 82 year old man…the ‘Benjamin Button’ of dogs…so much skin to grow into!
As a puppy he loved his food, he used to have rice pudding warmed in the microwave (breeders advice) so knew when he heard the microwave ‘ping’ it meant ‘food’ and he would steam in.
As an adult and still food orientated, he was too intelligent for his own good. We had padlocks on cupboard’s and bins after finding multi packs of crisps on the floor, bins pulled out all over the floor- including fire ash everywhere!
This boy was ‘obsessed’ with his ball and would run for hours up and down hills- he became a mass of muscle and clearly very handsome.
This mass of muscular muscle- poorly trained on the lead he was clearly perfect for testing our ‘Droollery’ range. Stig would get in touch with his ‘feminine side’ for the photos- but when he was outside on his lead with his focus ‘we are going to the field we are gonna play ball’ he pulled like a train!...’Stig test’ passed.
Stage 2 the ‘Holmes boys’ 18 & 20 years at the time playing tug of war to prove their mum wrong….yes between my 3 boys there were adjustment, but 3 years on we have ‘strength and beauty’.
Stig passed away in 2019 while doing what he loved best ‘running for the ball!’ he did not suffer , I miss my boy, the fondest memory I have of him was being snowed in when he was a puppy I was in my furry pyjamas in front of the fire doing phone call triage to patients remotely from home with Stig laid on my legs asleep.
RIP big boy... greatly missed … but warmer now you’re not there to hog the fire!
Although I have a career in nursing I have a passion for dogs, jewellery, art, and all things sparkly with true beauty.
The concept behind the brand Droollery was to produce something beautiful, unique and practical. Dogs are part of the family so why can’t they have sparkly beautiful things too right?
The wonderful thing about having experience in the jewellery trade is knowing things not only need to look nice, but an understanding on how the items has to be manufactured.
Having an aeronautical engineer as a son was definitely a bonus, except when both the boys would gang up on me and play tug of war with my collars to try to prove a point!.....Clearly with their help ( yes I think I can call this help) and several prototypes and adjustments later, 3 years to get it right I am proud to announce that you could take a 15 stone 23 year old safely out for a walk!!
Oval Design Prototypes
First design concept...
First manufacture of the prototype. This prototype was too thick and had some weak points – I was keen to have a balanced collar and this felt too ‘clunky’ and not beautiful
Prototype 2 designed
And then came the strength testing.....

Welcome to the first, albeit short (!), post from Droollery.
My dream to make beautiful jewelled collars and charms for dogs started around 3 years ago, my dogs, who have sadly passed away since, inspired me to make jewellery and accessories for dogs that make them look smart and stylish!
With a background in jewellery making, I took the task on with great gusto, and outside of working with the NHS started to find my confidence in the collection I wanted to share with other dog owners around the world.
We work with only the best hand-crafted suppliers and I will introduce them to you in future posts.
In the meantime, if you like what I do please do follow me on Facebook or Instagram to keep up with our news and we look forward to welcoming you as a customer in the coming months.
